The accident-prone child

Posted November 7, 2007 at 9:50AM by LisaJof4
So Whatcha Want?

It is my opinion now, that in larger families of 3 or more children there is always one who is accident prone. The accident prone child in my house is the third born, a little girl. Granted, she's only 18 months, but she's extra clumsy. Especially around her 4 month old brother. Particularly when her 4 month old brother is get specialized attention from me.

My little girl accidentally falls on the baby. When she's trying to show him a pretty rattle, she accidentally sticks it in his eye. She'll lean in for a kiss on his head, but then *woops!* She accidentally head butts him twice.

It reminds me of my Aunt who is a mother of 5. Her accident-prone child, Michael, was around that 'tween age when the following scene unfolded before me. I was helping to set the Thanksgiving table and so was Michael. Or, at least he was supposed to be helping. Instead, he picked up a paper napkin and held it over top the centerpiece of flowers, which surrounded a few burning candlesticks. Just in the nick of time, before the whole scene went up in flames, his mother rushed over. She said, "Michael, oh, baby! You almost accidentally started a fire."

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

Now that you point this out my DD "accidently" takes toys away from her little brother, even though we just a family of four.

Hey FreklQn - look at your future w/#3 on it's way!
