TMI – what comes out of the mouths of 4 year olds

Posted December 28, 2007 at 1:57PM by Sticky_Mommy
I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

Last night I hosted a neighborhood holiday party. It was a chance for all the neighbors to get to know each other better, drink, eat and stumble home. It was also a chance for DH & myself to get to know our 16 year old neighbor better to see if she was babysitter material (she is, score!).

Besides the homemade Baileys, the highlight of the evening was a conversation my just turned 4 year old daughter had with one of our neighbors.

Neighbor: “Sylvie, did you put the star on the top of the Christmas tree?”

Sylvie: “No, I was scared. My Mommy did.”

Sylvie: “I was up really high. My Daddy held me up by my vagina.”

Oh man, we got a good laugh out of that one. Can anyone say awkward?

Whoa! And what did the neighbors do, besides choke on their home made Baily's?? Gee - there is getting to know your neighbors and your neighbors getting to know YOU.
Now you have a Christmas star story to tell every Christmas, especially when DD is say, 16?

  There's never enough time

That is so funny. Reminds me of when I was talking with my 5 yr old. I was pregnant and he asked how the baby got there. I told him it was something mommys and daddys do behind closed doors. He look at me and like it was nothin said "oh thats sex " and went to his room and played. I was just stuned.

I made my MIL cry.

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

I made my MIL cry. And it wasn’t with tears of joy after she opened the Holiday card we sent her. I hate to disappoint her, she’s the sweetest lady (that is where my husband gets his sweetness), but I thought our Holiday card was the best ever. Maybe not.

I’m not going to post a photo b/c MIL thinks our kids will get taken away so I’ll just describe it. But before I do that I have to give you all some background on our previous cards.

2003

·        Me: 9 months pregnant with 1st child dressed as Mary

·        DH: dressed as Joseph

·        Tag line: Here’s hoping for Silent Nights!

2004

  • 1st child’s face photoshoped on a Nativity scene
  • Tag line: Well we think she’s special.

2006

  • Both kids with fake noses, mustaches and glasses
  • Tag line: There must be some mistake, please check the list again.

This year (the year I made my MIL cry)

  • Both kids surrounded by booze bottles, empty milk jugs, Starbucks double shot cans, beer and wine bottles
  • Tag line: May the Sprits of the Holidays surround you.

Yes, I know it’s on the edge, but I ran it by Mom and she said it was boarder line but thought it was funny. So we rolled the dice and crapped out via my MIL.

Now we know where the line is. Happy Holidays!

Yeah a little boarder line, but funny sounding. I think you are very creative though. I love 2003 and 2004, very funny.

  Mommy of 2 Girls!

OMG I am crying with tears of laughter, you are definitely creative, it's strange how downhill the trend went after you gave birth LOL. I have a similar pic of my daughter looking woozy with a beer can nearby and think it's also hilarious. It's ok, you'll just have to redeem yourself with next year's card :) I wish you would send me the card from this year, I would love to mail it to my friends and family!!!!

wow. no you dih-int, girl. (finger wave, lol).
again, wow. next year, put them in hideous christmas sweaters and surround them with plastic reindeer and fake snow...redemption here will come only through a magnified display of commercial holiday decor. You might even have to do one sooner, like a wholesome valentine's card to erase the tainted holiday vision you placed in her head...:)

  Mumsey responded December 19, 2007 at 10:03AM

I like the idea of a Valentine card to your MIL - and while I could go crazy here with the ideas, for her, you might just do the 'hearts thing' and everyone else (that isn't older than 59) gets your creative ones. Plus I agree on the commercialism - but it sounds like your MIL is sorta religious so that's why she also didn't take it well. Christmas is one of those holidays where to most people, it's lost the true meaning, and those who remember why we have the 'out of control' holiday get touchy about it. Understandable, but also, she probably has other stuff going on that made her get upset. This holiday makes us all a bit crazy as we buy into the commercialism. Or maybe it's just that I'm late with my presents and cookies and baking and have a few more cards to send and and and....... ;-)

  Hugs, Jeanne

Toooo funny. I always get those nicey, nicey, safe cards every year as well. The funniest card I ever got, I got this year. My neice has three boys and she took an individual photo of each of them and the two older ones had naughty "Santa" hats on and the youngest has a nice "Santa" hat on. the tag line is, "I think someone has the wrong hat on. Happy Holidays from our naughty bunch to yours!"

I thought it was so refreshing that someone in the family was able to be daring enough to send a funny card.

My boys are 3 and at this point, it is just easier to take the cutsie photos now, when they get older, I hope they will cooperative enough to play along with funny photos for Christmas cards!

Maybe you can do something extra special for MIL this year to make up for it. Try baking her a nice tray of homemade goodies, get her a gift certificate to a weekend spa or get her a beautiful piece of jewelry.

Hope all gets better soon! Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

New features on MyBaby! You'll go Ga-Ga

Posted December 5, 2007 at 4:34PM by Sticky_Mommy
I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

If you love to connect with parents close to you, keep your city location private, know when you have a new friend request, or delete your comments after you posted them, boy do we have the new features you’ve been looking for!

Have you been looking for a Playgroup? Are you interested in chatting with other parents who also like to sleep, drink coffee and have Mommy Guilt? Well then, you’re going to LOVE this new feature!

To connect with parents close to you go to your MyBaby Profile cubby and click on full profile,

There you will find names of other MyBaby members who are near you. The bigger the name the closer they are. When you roll your mouse over their user name it will show their city and photo.

If you want to connect with other parents over a topic that you are interested in (to update your interests go to edit my profile) click on one of your interests (mine is Mommy Guilt) and you will pull up all the members who have the same interest.

If you’re a private person and you don’t want your city listed, go to the edit setting at the top of your home page and mark “hide my location” and your city will not be public. You do want to keep your zip code correct so you know what events and sale items are happening near you.

Made a dumb comment on someone’s post and now you want to crawl under a rock? Delete with a click of Delete your comment !

Are you popular? Of course you are. And now you can see when you have a new friend request. It’s in bright orange that screams “New” accept me!

We hope you guys like all the changes and please keep the suggestions coming!

Here’s my Suggestion: When you add a photo to your profile it makes your homepage, post and profile interesting. Plus, it’s easy.  You can upload a photo right from your computer. If you have any questions leave me a note.

We had a request from a member to add a topic for Parents of Multiples – who’s interested?

Enjoy,

Sticky
