My Ugly Baby

Posted August 23, 2007 at 5:01PM by Sticky_Mommy
I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

After DD was born I wasn't sure what to think. She was funny looking as most newborns are, but after the nurse said she was the best looking baby born that night I thought, well, the nurse must know what she is talking about. Still in my heart I knew she was border-line ugly; bald, big nose and never smiled.

Luckly she’s grown to be a good looking kid with a head of sweet curls and just the best, sweetest, kindest kid I could ever dream of. But man she was ugly when she first started out. And looking back at photos just confirms it. It’s funny because living in the moment you think, oh she’s not that bad, but boy was I wrong. Judge for yourself.

Just a FYI, that’s her father’s nose which looks good on a grown man, not a baby.

dishing the dirt, cleaning the chaos

we have a code word..."nifty"

like, for example, an ugly baby will go by in a stroller and my hubby and I will whisper, "nifty"

You can even say it to the parents..."oh, what a nifty little munchkin you have!" just be sure to use a sticky sweet, bubbly voice!

also, my oldest turned out pretty cute despite a nifty babyhood. he never smiled either- no song and dance could make him crack a smile!

My mom swears to this day I was the ugliest infant she had ever seen. She even wanted to hold off the christening because she was embarrassed haha... it makes me smile. She says I was so homely I was cute.

I think I'm bias cause this Cutie is adorable and I think beautiful. Must be my rainbow glasses. Our DD came out all burnt (skin peeling like she'd been in the cooker too long), but I still thought she was beautiful, odd alien looking but beautiful. A coined phrase "a face only a mother could love". LOL. he he.
It's a good thing she is so beautiful now cause it helps me get through those whinny days where I just want to jump out the window.

I have seen ugly babies. Yours is NOT. I thought my son looked like an alien when he was handed to me. All I could say was "What an angel!" He is quite honestly (no bias at all =) ) THE most beautiful boy I have ever seen. Even at 5, he gets cuter every day!

  Diggin the motherhood gig

LOL That was one of my biggest fears when i was pregnant. I think I did pretty good though. But when I look back at her newborn pics, i realize I must have thought she was cuter than she really was. Newborns are funky! but nice to know I am not the only one who feels that babies can be fugly! Even just for a while!

ps I think she is cute. got that sexy "pout" thing goin for her. At least you can tell she is a girl, everyone keeps callin mine a "handsome boy". Um hello? just cause she is wearing GREEN does not make her a boy!

Awww, lol, you should really write more about this & submit it to a magazine because I think this is something other moms would love to read & be interetsed in, & some may feel the same way about their own but afraid to say it. You're saying what many moms thin but are too afraid to talk about. I can remember staring at my own son right after he was born & looking at every detail on his face & hoping he wouldn't be an ugly duckling & then thinking oh my how vain can I be? lol but it's just a normal human emotion for some people & then some people just don't care. I loved what you wrote & I love the pics. She's still adorable!!
