Mommy Guilt - Vomit

Posted June 5, 2007 at 10:58AM by Sticky_Mommy
I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

So I'm on my 2nd biz trip w/o the kids. It would be heaven (you know the whole sleeping in thing, not eating at race pace, going to the bathroom with the door closed and remaining that way - the little things), however my kids are sick. And not the dopey kind of sick, it's the kind where they throw up in the middle of the night & you have to change the sheets & PJ's 3X durning the night kind of sick.

I feel bad enough leaving my husband to single parent it himself for a week, but then you throw the vomit thing on top of that and come on, my guilt scale goes all the way to 11 on a scale of 1-10.

Poor DH calls me at 11 PM his time to ask me where the clean crib sheets are. All I can do is be his life line and offer support over the phone.

FYI when I get home he going surfing for 2 days with his friends so at least he has something to look forward to.

Any suggestion on how to make his life easier?

I was trying to get my Dad or friends to come over to help, but no one wants to get sick! Chickens!

dishing the dirt, cleaning the chaos

I say, and don't tell him :) - you shouldn't feel guilty at all, seriously. it's not your fault, they are sick kids - it happens- and he'll be surfing while you are home washing crusty barf sheets. If your husband were throwing up and needed you there, then you could allow yourself to feel bad. anyway, to make his life easier, tell him he can go surfing when you get home and before he goes off to relax w/o kids, you'll do some sort of special strip tease for him or something:).
