Dani’s Hero

I received a beautiful letter today. Actually, two of them. Here they are.

Page 1

I got a bulletin on myspace saying I could send in a story to this email address about my hero. If I have the right email address here is my story :

My hero's name is Sgt. Daniel D. Hafford Jr., he is a US Army soldier and our lives are owed to him and his colleagues. He has been in the military since 1998 and is very proud and humble about his job. He went to Iraq when the war started with the 101st Airborne Division stationed out of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. He made a promise to me before he left that he would be in my wedding. I got married ten days after he returned home from the war. This promise he made to me is what brought him home. He couldn't see his older sister get married without him there! He has sacrificed so much for this country we love to call America and he is a born leader and hero, I will always love him with every beat of my heart. From the Proud sister of an American Soldier.

I have attached a photo of my gorgeous brother, and believe me this was no easy task, just like a lot of soldiers my brother has a HUGE funny side and loves to make wacky faces whenever anyone shoots a photo of him :) and reason to make us all smile :)

If you enjoyed my story please let me know, Dani Hafford-Keiser

... love talking to everyone about my brother. we are 13 months apart and have always been mistaken for twins, even though I am a girl and he a boy, we have ALWAYS been really close. Our family is a very close one and everyone who comes to mom and dad's home always leave with a "wow, that is a great family" feeling. I love it when Dwight brings his soldier friends home, he has brought home two girls and one guy in ten years, these occasions are few and far between but are great times. I love hearing their stories and listening to them tell their stories, they are really great. Of course I miss my brother terribly, right now he is stationed in Illinois as a recruiter there. He is safe for the time being, since he is a recruiter he is needed here, but he is dedicated to the Army for life and I am very proud of the man the military has made him. He is awesome, actually he is on myspace under the name WickedAwesome, he is such a riot. I checked out your page and if you don't mind I would like to add you. My name is danilicious so when you see me add me on :) and feel free to use the story and the photo :) talk to you again hopefully :)

If only every soldier had this support and love........... if only we all did.

Thank you so much Dani for sharing your hero with us.

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

so great - thanks for sharing! It's nice to give some pause to our day and think about our soliders, police offiers, fire fighters, and other people who put their live on the line. Whether you agree with the war or not, is not the point, it's making sure these "guys" make it home safe.

I agree. When it comes to supporting the troops, we have to ignore the politics of it.
