TLC = Self Image Breakdown

Posted July 28, 2007 at 4:32AM by cosmoblue

arrgh! i was watching tlc tonight, specifically what not to wear and now i am obsessed with what i have and don't have hanging in my closet. i am obsessed with my mommy body. i have been in denial about my bust and waist. they are a lot bigger than they used to be. i had thought that i would lose the inches by now at least the ones in my waist (three inches) i am still nursing so i can accept the girls (i went from a c to an ee) for now. i just don't know when to give in and buy an entirely new mommy body wardrobe. i haven't worked out hardly at all i have only been to yoga 9 times in 13 months and i haven't done any cardio or core. i keep intending to, but i don't. i also plan to have another dc sooner rather than later. do i go on looking like a lazy bum until after the next dc? or do i buy new clothes that i can only wear until i get pg again? i am a fashion designer i can't just look like i have been. i need to find new freelance clients in oregon. who hires a fashion designer that looks like she hasn't been shopping in 5 years? i haven't by the way. i look grody.

when did you mommies get back into pre baby shape? if you haven't yet when did you stop denying your mommy shape and buy new clothes that fit you?

  Life is crazy but wonderful.

I didn't gain any weight when I was pregnant for daughter (my husband left and I went through a divorce during my pregnancy so it was stress not luck) and I gained an amazing amount of weight for my son, all fluid. I lost all the weight but my stomach after 2 c-sections & a baby that weighed 10.5 is completely stretched. I lost my muscle tone in my lower belly and I was reading that the only way to get it back is to have surgery so I am stuck with it. I am wearing the same size I was before I had my daughter & son and was within 2 weeks of each. But my body did change and I think there are some things that just change after a baby. It has been 4 years after my son has been born and I am still trying to lose a little weight not pregnancy weight but sahm weight, the kind you gain from just being home around food all the time and eating kid food.

Every family has a story, tell yours today www.pagesofalifetime.com

As hard as it sounds, you need to get into a routine. Get a pilates tape or other exercise video and right after you feed the children breakfast, pop it in. Give yourself the 20 minutes in the morning. Don't worry if the dishes are done, the baby is fussy, or you have other things to do. You deserve time for yourself. No one is going to give it to you. You have to be responsible for taking it. It is ok to put things off for 30 minutes while you put yourself first.

  LatteMommy

I was rollie pollie with DD in the oven. I gained almost 40 lbs with her. I ate cantaloupe so much that I thought she would come out looking like one! LOL. She is 3 yr. 4 mo. and the "girls" are still BIG (DH doesn't mind, but my back & hips do) and I want them smaller. Yup, I'm weird like that...growing up thing. My hips have yet to go back (& most likely never will), I really miss my flat tummy (had a c-section).... BUT my upper arms are what drive me frigin crazy, they got really big during pregnancy and they have stayed like that...drives me nutty. I am dieting now ... on week 2 (salad's & eating healthy food - low sugar & carbs watching)...feel better but need to add the exercise now. Will try treadmill again tomorrow. It's hard and really effects your self-esteem, but WE CAN DO IT.
I REALLY want the body I had 7 yrs. ago when I got married. I'm working on it.

Ok, I'm not a moomy, I'm a daddy so I hope you don't mind me chiming it. You're beautiful. Period. Got that? Good.

Now, the best thing you can do for your family is to take care of yourself. If exercise makes you feel good do it. But, until you can get into the new swing of things be patient with yourself. I know my wife talks down to herself and I hate it. How can you take care of yourself when you put yourself down? You can't.

Once my wife grabbed her belly and said, "Look at this." and she meant it in a bad way. I said, "I love it, my babies lived there." She said I scored points, but I meant it.

Love yourself in averyway. Be proud to be a mom, and take care of yourself with actions as well as words.

Peace.
/Dave

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

You have to look and feel good at every stage. Get yourself some pices that make you feel you now. Do not delay, you deserve it.

I'm almost at my weight, but my body is sooo not the same. And yes, I could be trying harder too. I do feel better when I get some exercise and that's my motovation - plus I'm going on a cruise with my girlfriends in 3 weeks!

I love DBD1711 comments - what a sweetie!
