Survived the trip.

Posted August 4, 2007 at 11:30AM by cosmoblue

Hi! Just a quick update on my trip so far. After a rocky start things are starting to smooth out. So what happened? Let me tell you. Well we were packing up all of our things at the apartment since we had to move out before we laeft for Ohio. We had not realized that there was so much stuff hiding in our apartment. Well long story short we did not finish packing by 12:00 noon when our flight was at 3:30. At 2:00 we conceded and decided that there was no way we were going to make our flight so we called the airline and tried to see what it would cost to postpone our flights. It was going to be ridiculously expensive so I suggested that we split up and I would fly at the scheduled time with DD and he would finish packing up, do the walk through and fly out at the next available flight. I had never flown with DD alone before and was not looking forward to it. We split the baggage so that I would be taking just DD's things and DH was going to bring our suitcase. That wasn't the best idea, but it was really short notice. DD was "that baby" on the plane she cried alot and spilled things and kicked the seat in front of us. I was so embarassed. Then we got here and our bag got lost. The bag with all of DD's diapers. We had to wait for it until the next day. Then she was fussy and didn't want to sleep or eat. She just wanted to nurse all day. She was trying not to adjust to the 3 hour time difference. It was crazy. Well now she is getting used to all of the people (DH's 8 brothers and sisters and their spouses and their children) and the new places and the new time. We are actually getting smiles and she is trying to interact with her older cousins. It is pretty cute. Well I hope to update soon with even better developments.

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

Do you ever wonder how you fit all those things in your apt? It sounds like the trip from hell, but it does make a funny story. Once DD gets used to all the family you'll be able to take them up on offers of help so you can have a few min to yourself (and maybe do yoga?!).

On the next flight bring cash so you can buy drinks for your seat mates - booze always makes moods/flights go better.

good idea S_M, will remember that one when we go to fly. LOL.
Gosh seems like a nightmare trip. I'm glad all worked out in the end for you. Glad you are near family and hopefully getting some much needed help soon. Best wishes.
