perhaps she is just feeling a bit off from being sick and needs you a bit more right now. Perhaps offer alternatives to holding all the time. Sounds like she just needs to be close right now so do all you can to make her feel secure by having her close by but perhaps not always holding her? Snuggle on the couch to read a book or something?

find a stuff animal that is yours or your favorite and give it to her and try to have the stuffed animal help her with any inscurities that she might be going throuh right now. But also let her know that she can sit with you and hold you and you will hold her when you are seated. It is tough and most likely just a phase she is going through. At age 3's weight they can do damage to your back if you hold them long enough or bend a certain way to lift them.
