5 stitches...to the chin. got ideas to spoil him?

dishing the dirt, cleaning the chaos

Never a dull moment around here!
My 5 yo son took a digger on his bike yesterday. He fully split his face open and had 5 stitches in his tiny chin. I almost fainted looking into the gaping hole. He can't really eat much (chewing hurts) and he's overall fine but I feel like I should spoil him a bit. We had friendly's sundaes for dinner and he watched a movie but is there anything you can think of to make it kinda special?

He didn't cry ONCE on the stitching table! It was great and we were pretty lucky he didn't freak out. How have  you handled stitches and such?

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

Ouch, poor kid! And you were brave too. I would have lost my lunch.

How about some new books, go the library and get stories about being brave.
Meals in front of the TV.
Blend fun stuff up like hamburgers so he can enjoy what everyone else is eating for dinner.
Fun band aids for his chin.
A date with Mom, you guys go out to a movie.

OMG! I would have fainted if I were in your place. Brave kid. Takes after his mom I guess. Pamper him with all the goodies that he can eat. Make all his favorites. Spend quality time with him or read books for him. Hope he feels better soon.

Be sure to take photos that he can then show his friends - kids like to show off the war wounds! Also, make a huge cardboard or colored paper Get Well Card, with lots of stickers he can put on it and have it signed by friends. Also you could have him tell you the story of how he got hurt, write it down, and tell him you're saving it for a year, and then read it a year from the day he got hurt, and remind him how brave he was.
As for me, each time either my daughter or a friend needed stitches, I comforted them, and when the stitching was over, promptly fainted. Both times. And that was the ONLY time I've ever fainted. At least I made sure the kids were ok before keeling over.
