Ok, so this is a geeky clip of my hands...BUT it's a really great idea and we use this activity often.

It is good for pre-writing, tactile memory and fine motor skills. You can be very simple and basic and allow your child to dig and scoop or you can use it to teach:

letter formation
sounds
shapes
numbers
patterns
adjectives
name-writing
phone number
address etc.

Directions:
get pan
get salt
get busy!
