wise words from an 8 year old...going on 18

dishing the dirt, cleaning the chaos

I tell this story all the time so if I accidentally said this before, I apologize. If you haven't heard it, it's one of those mom quotes that stick.

Many we wish we'd remember forever but forget. Many we wish we'd forget but remember every night before we close our eyes. Many, however stick and resonate and prove that no matter how we guide and push or let go...they each have their own personalities that will make the world a new and exciting place, with each generation.

ENOUGH sappy monologue....

Here's the quote, taken from a totally casual conversation:

MOM (me): Hey, miles, what do you want to do when you grow up? Have you thought about it?"

M (straight faced as you can be): "Mom, I don't want to do anything, I want to BE somebody."

Is that insane or what? So, for the little people who want to change the world....let them!

Will the next one be ginger too??

That kid has always been an adult trapped in a child's body. even when he was 2. Seriously.

Pretty deep for ANY age! One of my favorite kid quotes happened when we were overseas. A young girl asked her Mom (my friend) "Mommy, what's puberty?" Her Mom kinda hemmed and hawed, then said "It's when you can bear children." The daughter answered "Oh, I can bear children alright, it's adults I can't stand." Aren't kids grand?!
