Dad sings to belly...

Posted June 28, 2007 at 11:15AM by dvd1711

Here's a great tip for expecting dads; sing to your baby in the womb. It is fun and worth it and your baby's mom will love you for it. Here is my story and proof of benefit:

I used to sing "Smilin' Face" by JT when my son was in the womb. The day he was born, I was laying down with him on my chest. When I satarted singing to him he lifted his head. Very cool for the first day of birth.

More important, he came down with yellow jondus. I rushed to the hospital when he was admitted into ICU. When I arrived, he was crying and 2 nurses were trying to get an IV in him with little succes. Through my tears (which I shed again now just telling this story) I started singing the song to him. He was quiet right away, even as they stuck the needle in his little leg, he just listened. "You...stay here." was the nurses' response to me. Yeh, like they had a choice, lol.

So, sing to your baby dad. One of the best things you will ever do for your family.

Peace.
/Dave

So sweet! My DH used to put headphones on my belly, mostly Beatles tunes. Great tip!

Space shuttle video interupts baby monitor!

Posted June 15, 2007 at 8:39AM by dvd1711

Hey all,

I thought this was cool. A teacher in Chicago is receiving video from the space shuttle. She proved it to her students and coworkers by bringing the monitor to her class. Pretty cool read. Check it out here:

Playing peak a boo - tip to playing

Posted June 14, 2007 at 4:39PM by dvd1711

Fun game, right? Do you ever play with a child you don't know well? Bad idea!

I travel a lot for work so I get to meet a lot of babies in my travels. I learned through my own kids that some adults play this game in a very scary way. So, here is my tip:

-Start by smiling at the baby
-Slowly cover your face
-Slowly reveal your face, again smiling
-Do not yell, peak a boo. Instead, smile and softly say hello, or in your silliest soft voice say, "Hello baby..."

Think about this: How would you play with a rautweiler to avoind getting your face torn off? Well, that's how you should play with a baby so they don't get scared.

Oh, by the way, that spinach in your teeth could be scary too. Well, at least it frightens me...lol

Nothing worse then making a kid cry! Great points.
