I am glad to know that I am not the only one who occasionally struggles in the grocery store, even though you have two more than me.
Sticky_Mommy responded June 1, 2007 at 9:17AM
I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!
I hate grocery shopping & it seems that I'm at the store everyday! I often drive 20 miles away b/c thier is a play center at a grocer store who will watch my oldest while I shop with the baby. It's a mad panic. If you guys are intersted - NetGrocer has a $10 off $50 order, it's on your home page - shop-on-line and get your groceries deliverd. Handanmyl - they ship frozen & fridge items to VT.

good luck to you. I have been wondering if I should join or not. I can no longer use baby fat as my excuse since my youngest baby just turned two. I know so many people who have had good luck with that program.

Just like rockergirrl my baby turns one next week and well, lets' just say it's taken more then 9 months off! I do it on-line and if I really journal I see the results, but I found if I go to meetings as well that really helps. Good luck, you're already doing it!
cosmoblue responded May 29, 2007 at 1:06PM
Good luck with that. Sadly eventhough I am back to my pre-preg weight I look nothing like I did pre-preg. I doubt even weight watchers could help me.
Sticky_Mommy responded May 29, 2007 at 1:45PM
Cosmoblue - isn't that the truth! I mean my weight is almost back, but my body is far from it! Handanmyl - I forgot to mention wine is 2 points - ;)
Sticky_Mommy responded May 29, 2007 at 1:47PM
Me again! Bocca Vegan burgers are 1 point, very filling. I eat those with ketchup & leatus for a snack (no bun). And if you're breast feeding you get 10 extra points. That is why my son will be nursing until he's 16 - so I can eat chocolate!
handanmyl responded May 29, 2007 at 5:53PM
I did find out about the wine and ive been using those 2 points!!! thanks for the tip about the burgers!!!! will be adding those to my shopping list!

We spent the weekend around the house too. Planted my veggie garden and built a new compost bin. I was wishing Burlington had a memorial parade but they don't.
vtmomof2 responded May 29, 2007 at 8:46AM
It was a nice weekend. My daughter was in the town parade and it was her first parade, she has another one next weekend. We just hung out and did nothing and it was great.

We went to Montpelier on Saturday. So quiet and peaceful! Farmer market, open studios, galleries, the sun, the breezes... everything was great! On the other hand, the Vermont Chocolate Show on Sunday was just okay.

My ex-husband called yesterday. He wants to take the twins for a week this summer. I don't want him to. First of all, he lives in Florida, they would have to fly alone. Second, he hasn't seen the since the summer of 2005...his fault. We went down there for a vacation (my fam is there) and he had them for 4 days, when we went to pick them up, his parents shut our vehicle in their yard and locked the gate and threatened to not give the girls back to me. Luckily I had my cell with me and I called 911, with that call they opened the gate, but he was reluctant to let me have the girls. When I finally got them in the vehicle, they were scared to death! So of course I don't trust him to return them to me after a week. He says he promises to give them back, that he is a different person now, but I am still scared. I know I can't stop him, he pays child support, and he has joint custody. My husband got online last night and found out that unaccompanied minors can only fly on non-stop flights! Thank goodness there are none from Burlington to Tampa!!!! Safe for now!
vtmomof2 responded May 24, 2007 at 12:37AM
I would hire an attorney if I were you and tell them the story you posted. You have reason to be afraid, child support and visitation are separate issues and you should protect your children from possible kidnapping or even the threat of it; it causes harm to your children. He should only be allowed supervised visits. Good luck to you, I know what it is like.
dustbunny responded May 24, 2007 at 12:54AM
dishing the dirt, cleaning the chaos
make him get his buns on a plane...can you do that? does he not understand why this is traumatic for the girls? offer to pay for his flight or hotel rm (just to have some leverage)...something like that maybe? what if he rented a place here for a week? that'd cost almost as much as two plane tickets. or can you go? tough situation!
Sticky_Mommy responded May 24, 2007 at 2:15PM
I would not let those girls out of your sight!
birdiehandmade responded May 24, 2007 at 7:15PM
DONT let them out of your sight. Hire and attorney (or call a free one if you can't afford it.) Tell them what happened last time, and make sure that he is not allowed unsupervised visits EVER. You don't want to risk it, and of course you don't want to put them through the trauma.AGAIN, DON'T put them on the plane to him alone. I'm sure you have a legal case. Just ask around for the right lawyer to help you.

I am so mad right now. I hate Comcast. So I have Comcast and a dvr and I tape everything and watch it later in the evening after it has started so I can whiz through the ads. I ran through most of the two hour special watched a few things here and there but at 10:05 I FF to the end only to find the show had run over and Comcast doesn't auto go over so I quickly switched to live tv only to find I had missed the announcment and Jordan was singing the final winning song. What was worse was that Fox puts on this entire two hour long show only to not even let you watch the winner sing the final song. The credits started rolling as she was still singing. ARGH!
dustbunny responded May 24, 2007 at 8:04AM
I was bummed- I dvr'd (and watched later)the entire fricking show only to have it stop recording the moment they announced the winner. I had to search yahoo...not nearly as exciting.

I hope I don't get in trouble here. The fog of age may be skewing my memory, but I'm pretty sure my midwife told me that it was okay to have a glass if you timed it right - as in nurse, drink, not nurse for a few hours while the alcohol wore off. Nothing crazy like polishing off the bottle by yourself, but a glass with dinner or whatever.
cosmoblue responded May 24, 2007 at 1:40AM
The lactation consultant said that as long as you don't nurse within 2 hours of your sensible drink you are good to go. She also says that when you don't feel the effects anymore you are probably safe which ever comes first.
rockergirrl responded May 24, 2007 at 6:05AM
I agree with both birdiehandmade & cosmoblue. Alcohol acts in your milk as it does in your bloodstream. I would only worry about having to pump and dump if you have to nurse right away or something. I never did that. I just did the timing thing like everyone has said so far. As long as it isn't all the time you are fine.
Sticky_Mommy responded May 24, 2007 at 8:39AM
Oh, I'm really going to stir it up - I've never drank as much booze or caffine since becoming a parent. I drank coffe and througout my pregnancy & had a glass of wine or beer 1 or 2X's per week after 25 weeks. I also breastfeed and have a glass of wine or a cocktail w/dinner 4X per week and nurse my son after an hour after. My lactation consultant said as long as you don't feel buzzed from the caffine or wine, the baby won't either. And to stick to a glass/cup of each. Maybe I'm lucky, but I've never found anything I eat effect my kids through my breast milk.

Nursing mishaps
Posted May 19, 2007 at 7:51PM by handanmyl Three is for me!
Ok, so I've been nursing Mylie for 8 weeks and 2 days, in that time, I have nursed at the mall, at my kids gymnastics class, even on an airplane with 2 strange men next to me. I thought I had the hang of this, until today. I started back to work 2 days a week, so while I am there I have to pump, well, i am the only one at work with kids, let alone NURSING. I was in the office when one of the younger girls comes barging in while I am hooked up to a DOUBLE ELECTRIC BREASTPUMP!!!! I'm sure she was more embarrassed than I was, but my face definitely was red!!!! Anyone else out there who have had something like this happen? Please tell me I'm not the only one.
cosmoblue responded May 20, 2007 at 2:45AM
After DD was born I went back to work for about a month and I had to pump. They have a very open office no offices or cubicles just desks. I had to pump in the house keepers closet with the office supplies and the water cooler. No door. More than once a guy wandered in looking for post-its or tape.

Posted May 16, 2007 at 5:01PM by handanmyl Three is for me!
I have twin 7 year old daughters. Sometimes they come home from school saying the most random things. But today I was completely caught off guard when Hannah asked me when she could get a bra! Apparently her friend has one so now she would like to have one too. I think I answered it pretty well, I was completely calm and said, "When you get breasts, you can have a bra." That must have been the answer she was looking for because she just smiled and said "ok" and ran off to her room to play. Amazing

Middle of the night feedings

Sticky_Mommy responded May 16, 2007 at 1:54PM
Of course she only spits up on your or the sheets! If you're prepared it won't happen. Do this test: have your huband put on a nice shirt that has to be dry cleaned and see what happens. My son is 11 months is very squirmy & nursing is the only time for cuddling. I love it!
birdiehandmade responded May 16, 2007 at 10:34PM
Don't give up the nursing. The middle of the night mess is a pain, but sooner than seems possible, the nursing will be over, and you'll miss it. The other day my 3 1/2 yr old brought up nursing out of the blue (we stopped when he was 2) and started to cry because he couldn't nurse any more.
Misda_Sleep responded May 16, 2007 at 10:41PM
It might have something to do with night-time feeding...like darker room, or perhaps your eyes are closed so you're more sensitive to sounds and touch and so you're burping her differently?
