Adam Craig was born on May 6, 2008 at 11:10 a.m. He weighed in at six pounds 13 ounces and measured 20.5 inches in length. Everything went well. I went in Monday to be induced and then ended up staying due to my blood pressure being too high. My contractions started at 1:15 p.m. on Monday. They weren't too bad. Around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday the nurse came into check my vitals and that's when I thought that my water had broken but it turned out my cervix had started bleeding. I got really scared at that point. They brought in the ultrasound machine but baby looked just fine. After that things moved rather quickly for me being a first time mom. I dialated five centimeters in four hours and then it only took me 45 minutes for the last four centimeters. They only gave me a 1/4 dose of staydol for pain releif so I felt everything. The only thing the pain medication did for me was help me sleep between contractions. I then pushed for an hour and ten minutes. The doctor ended up having to do an episiotomy due to the fact that Adam was coming out face up instead of face down. Unfortunately for me I felt it despite the contractions and the numbing medicine he put in. Other than that things went very, very well.
Every day has been a new learning experience for my husband and I but we are doing very well at adjusting. I do have to say thank you to my husband for being there for me, being my rock and being the best labor coach anyone could ever want. Oh, I also have to thank my precious baby boy for being so patient with mommy while we master breastfeeding.
