Okay so my daughter isn't 4 any more but I'm going to reminisce a bit here. Below are a couple of pictures taken at Twin Hills, the Girl Scout day camp in Jonesville. I was one of the leaders and we had a group of 4 and 5 year old girls.
This one is my daughter Erica, holding her her stuffed dog, Mutzie. Mutzie it must be said is still around today. I'm going to convince Erica to let me take a picure now. What a change you'll see in both of them.

Camp was fun that summer. I had a great time with the girls. At that age they are so excited by everything. One of the most fun activites we did was teaching the girls fire safety. They started out scared and ended up confident, if not bored, by the match lighting practice. Basically we had a big box of stick matches and the girls lined up and one by one they would take turns lighting the matches. When they began they would strike the match and just about throw it into the fire pit. We taught them that to be safe you needed to strike, hold and then lay the match down. (See Erica demonstrating with her best pose below) Over and over we did this, burning through (pun intended) the whole big box of matches. It was a fun, yet safe environment to learn about matches and fire. Best of all I think we took the mystique out of the matches.
