the prices are insane. My problem is I can't cut corners on food. I will cut my budget everywhere else but I just can't do it with food. Cheap food is just filled with crap I don't want to feed my family. My tip for saving money is to make as much from scratch as possible, don't buy packaged foods, don't buy individual serving size snacks.

I agree with rockergirrl. I make stuff from scratch and buy in bulk when thing like sauces, beans & cereal are on sale, or 10 for $10s.

buying in bulk means more time in the kitchen which isn't my favorite thing, but when I have more time then money (not really) I have to do things like prep after the kids are in bed instead of watching TV or relaxing like I would love to be doing.

It makes my head hurts and my wallet hurt more. We don't eat out (ok, we also have a baby, so we're not eating out much anyways) and we make a lot of crock pot meals so I can put in veggies and less expensive cuts of meat and it tastes good and I'm not in the kitchen all day! LOL
