we used a paci w/our daughter & her teeth came in just fine. We offered it to her at any time when she was an infant & teething. After that just at nap time & bed time. It was tough to get her to give it up but she did at 3 yrs old. We took her to Chuckie Chz for her reward.

Our daughter used a pacifier until she was about 1. She never sucked her thumb, and although we would have wouldn't have tried to stop her from doing that, we're glad she never did (the minimal braces she now needs is very nice). But we decided to ween her of the binky when she turned 1. How?...

...we just started snipping small slices off the end of the pacifier each week until it got to small for her to hold in her mouth. She finally threw it away herself without complaint.

My daughter used a pacifier until she was about 3, but only at night and for naps after about 18 months. She loved it and it was a whole lot easier to get rid of than a thumb! She also slept with a blanket, which she still hasn't completely given up.. years and years later..
