My Mercedes

Posted July 10, 2008 at 1:05PM by vtmomof2
Life is crazy but wonderful.

Not the car but my degree.  Today I got my financial aid package for school, and I figured it out by the time I get my degree it will cost me the same as a mercedes, well a low end mercedes, but still.   This is my second year and I still get a knot in my stomach when I realize how much I have to borrow to try and create a career for myself.  Because I already have loans from the first attempt, the grand total will be a nice car.  It is crazy how much it costs.  I know I am actually lucky because I'm an adult my tuition is half the normal traditional student tuition and I do get grant money, but it is still expensive.  I have to keep focused on the prize, the degree I have always wanted and the opportunities it will open up for me.  I am sure I will be able to earn enough to pay for it, but wow it will take a chunk out of whatever I earn.  Thanks for the vent, I feel much better now.

All is well, hope everything is well with everyone. I have been incredibly busy since starting school, it seems I never have time.

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

With your new income you will be able to buy a few Mercedes, plus you'll feel like a million dollars for such an accomplishment!

Sticky you have a way of putting things in perspective. While I have sent out the forms for my loans and stuff, a part of me was feeling a little down at the amount of debt that I will accrue. It takes a lot of faith to do this. My biggest concern is that I will be forced to work at a bank. I have an accounting background and that combined with the law will make me a good candidate for a bank job. I don't know why but I really don't want to work for a bank, but if the pay is right I don't have a choice. I think I might make a run for town clerk of my town, it is around the corner, so no need to pay for gas and the pay is really really good. My options are wide open. I just need to keep things in perspective.

Have you thought of volunteering at your town to see what it would be like to work there? And it would get yourself out there networking...

I actually use to audit towns, so I have an idea what it is like because I used to work with town clerks. I have already volunteered for the town and have already run for office. I think I might like running for town clerk, I already have people telling me to run and have received several write in votes in the last election. I was quite surprised to see my name in the vote tally, but thought maybe I do have the chance of winning that position. I think it would be a great job, a lot of responsibility but everything I have trained for.
