I really, really like good Christmas music. I'm going to share some of my favorites and I hope you share some so I can get a hold of some new ones!
OK, this might not be everyone's taste because it's old-fashioned and I grew up with it, but I have to have Ray Conniff "Christmas with Conniff." I grew up on the vinyl version. I absolutely recommend Ray Charles' "The Spirit of Christmas." Absolutely. If you're a Christmas Vacation (Chevy Chase) movie buff, you'll know Ray Charles' "That Spirit of Christmas" song as the "attic song." It's the one Chevy listens to as he's watching old movies and trapped in the attic. The song is beautiful and it's on "The Spirit of Christmas" album. Also, after watching Elf, I've added "Pennies from Heaven" by Louis Prima to my Christmas collection. It's got something to it. I've always used "Baby, It's Cold Outside" Bette Midler's duet from the "For the Boys" soundtrack. I love that one, too.
My must-have classics: "Let it Snow!" by Lena Horne; "White Christmas" by the Drifters; "Sleigh Ride" by Ella Fitzgerald; and "Winter Wonderland" by Bing Crosby. Oldies but goodies. I love these more modern additions as well: "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" by the Pointer Sisters; "Merry Christmas Baby" by Bruce Springstein; "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses; and "Do They Know?" by Boys II Men.
Last year, I mixed all of these up in a cd and sent it out in my Christmas cards. It went over so well. Young and old alike sent great reviews back. I hope to uncover some of your treasures, so please share!!! Thanks.
