I wasn't thinking

Posted February 21, 2008 at 2:42PM in Vent and Confess by joyfulmommy906 | Back

Hannah, turn on your ears!

I need some comforting words from someone! Today I did a bad thing that I will never do again. I left my 17 mo. old in line at the checkout while I ran to get something. She was with the cashier and another couple that I did not know from adam. I knew when I got back that I should have taken her with me. What made things worse is she was screaming because I left.

The couple was so nice and had been talking and playing with her, but still I thought to myself when I got in my car, what if they were not so nice people?

Thank the Lord my child is safe and sound napping in her crib right now. I hugged her and kissed her and told her to always scream when she meets a stranger.

Has anyone else done this not thinking? I am so grateful that nothing happened to my daughter.

Well I can't really tell you it was ok but I think you know that now. Just learn from it and remember how you felt if you ever have the urge to do it again.

Forgiving ourselves comes too easy for some but most times comes slow to others.

You learned, you won't do it again, she is fine, go forward. Don't let this stop you from being the great mom that you are.

Peace.

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

I too live in a bubble and think nothing bad could happen to my kids. And isn't is easier to keep in them in their car seats when they're asleep if I could run into Starbuck and see them from the window? Yes it is, but I've done this 2X and feel bad each time. Lesson learned!

dishing the dirt, cleaning the chaos

don't beat yourself up...it's madness being a mom and sometimes we just do things to get things done and think, dang, maybe I shouldn't have done that...you are fine and that's life- I totally feel for you...my son fell out of a shopping cart by total accident and I knew how bad it could've been- thank God it was ok. I learned my lesson...and I was sleep deprived from a brand new baby- the brain sometimes short circuits :)...no worries. that's what moms do :)
