ok, so if anybody wants an update on my hubby flying with 2 kids...what a morning! it started great, then went down hill at about 6:20 (we were supposed to leave by 6:30ish). Trevor (3) freaked about brushing his teeth with the wrong paste, I loaded th car, hubby was running around like crazy, I got that car ready, he got his stuff, we had a snoopy suitcase meltdown, cheerio throwing and milk spilling event at breakfast...on an on. So of course, we are 15 minutes behind schedule. Trevor (3) goes into a full on fit because I carried him to the suburban and put him in his seat. Well, he wanted to do it and then buckle himself. Of course, I was rushing & said next time- full scale tantrum, hysterical...I am yelling at him "don't make me get mad at you!" in the driveway while the cute old neighbors are out early walking....then andy comes out, gets mad...everyone is tense, pissed, crying, or tired. So, I need my wallet, I run inside, I come out, still yelling going on. Then, we take off.
I ask, "did you grab the big suitcase? "(the one w/ the boys' clothing in it). "No" ok, turn around. Haul in, haul out. Hit every red light. Wait for the traffic cop to waive an entire queue of cars...that never goes fast, we get there (on fumes) and run in, coordinated effort-style. Dang. Too late to check in.
In the past 8 years of flying with kids (and in CO, our families were in NH & CA so we went east/west alot), we have NEVER missed a flight due to our inability to stop bickering, crying, remember luggage, or get out the door on time. THEY ARE ON STANDBY IN VT AND CHICAGO TO SAN JOSE...2 flights, 2 kids, 1 car seat, 1 stroller....STANDBY. Even I wouldn't wish that on anyone. poor guy.
well, I am going to yoga! (I do feel bad, honestly).
