Sippy-Cup Tea Party

Teaching your child how to use a sippy cup has never been so fun or easy!

Some babies are reluctant to say goodbye to their bottles. Make the switch a fun experience by inviting some special friends to a sippy-cup tea party.

Prepare the Party

    * Gather three of your child's favorite stuffed animals or dolls around a small

table or in a circle on the floor. Prop sippy-cups in their hands.

    * Fill a fourth cup halfway with water or diluted apple juice and offer it to your

child with encouraging words such as, “Look! Teddy bear is drinking from

a big girl cup. Do you want to try too?”

    * Allowing your child to help you feed the guests might make her feel more comfortable         to try it herself.

Inviting an older sibling to the party is a great way to get her and baby to interact. Have your older child model the way to hold the cup and take a drink. She'll be proud of her own big-kid skills!
