I have never heard that...I know if your nipple was pierced b4 you could still breastfeed. Don't ask!

This is what I found on Dr. Sears:
"IS IT SAFE TO GET A TATTOO WHILE BREASTFEEDING?"
"I have heard various opinions on the subject of getting tattooed while still breastfeeding. I have a 16-month-old daughter who still nurses on demand and want to get a tattoo on my forearm. Is there a possibility this could hurt my daughter? "

The ink used for tattoos will be safe, as it primarily stays in the skin and does not get into the circulation. HOWEVER, the needles used for the tattoo will pose a very small risk of transmitting hepatitis C. Recent research shows that a larger, multi-colored tattoo poses a higher risk than small black tattoos. Another study showed that the risk of contracting hepatitis is actually higher during a dentist visit than while getting a tattoo, so this subject remains controversial. My thoughts are: before you permanently alter your body, imagine what this tattoo would look like on your Grandmother??? because some day that is how you will look!

good find sticky. I think they always like to err on the side of caution...right? I'd call the local tattoo shops and ask anonymously...see what responses you get.then, I'd call the doctor and see what he / she says. just call and ask to speak to a nurse...then you can make a well-informed decision. good luck...and what kind of tattoo are you getting?

Thanks ladies.. I definatly will do that... I have to go up to our doctor any how for Koletons 4 month check up.. so will ask then.. then I will call the tattoo shops and see what they say....
I'm getting Koletons footprint above that his name and then below it his date of birth.. Already got it all priced and everything... :o)

well I have some enfamil coupons for you....get the ink! lol I would think if you find a safe tattoo shop, which most of them are, and you dont get a tattoo on your nipple it would be fine. I have three tattoos and I love them. I will be a cool granny one day! ;o)
