Since we decided not to buy any more toys to avoid accumulation I had
to find alternatives to keep Ben happy . I thought that it would be
easy to find something at home .Here are
some everyday items which I found in my house that could double as a
toy for my
adventurous little one. My son is fifteen months old right now, and
they seem to suit him quite well. I don't think they'll work quite so
well for older kids.
Laundry basket
Our son likes the laundry basket and he gets into and
out of the laundry basket over and over again or he wants to be pushed
around in it as he sits inside. He likes to push the basket around the
room and crash into things too.
Boxes My son loves to throw things into
boxes, so before we throw any old shoe boxes away we give them to him
to play with until he destroys them.
Bottled waterShaking
a bottle of water keeps him occupied for quite some time on long car
trips. We just had to make sure the cap is on tightly. Lately he's
been trying to open the bottles in the same way that he's seen us
do, so I suspect we won't be able to do this much longer.
CupsNesting plastic cups can keep him entranced
for fifteen to twenty minutes, and that is like an eternity for our
son who is moving non-stop.
KeysHe's quite fascinated with his father's set of keys, but we had to just make
sure to remove the door lock contraption from the ring.
He loves
pressing buttons and the panic button is red which is even more
appealing.
CellphoneWe
had an old mobile phone which we let Ben play with since he was not
happy with a toy mobile . We removed the battery and gave it to him.
Its quite funny the way he pretends to text people, talk to someone or
even try to mimic the way I talk on the phone.
Tupperware He likes to pull out the Tupperware from the kitchen cupboard and either stack them or try to open and close them.
I
don't know how long these tricks will work with Ben. Is there anything
else that you did with your toddler ? I need to be prepared in advance
before
he starts to get demanding !!
