9 months and finger foods????

Posted April 22, 2008 at 9:57PM in Nutrition and Meals General by jessicamarie307 | Back

live, love, laugh....

Hi Everyone! My name is Jessica. I have a 9 month old. He is now starting finger foods or table foods. My doctor has him on 24 oz. of formula a day. He said he can have cheerios and most of our table foods. My question is what do I feed him? Do I give him breakfast lunch and dinner WITH his bottles or inbetween?? Im not really sure. If you have any advice or what your baby did when he/she started finer foods....please  let me know. Im a first time mom so this is difficult for me.

Thank you.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Jessica

Goofing around with my babies - Big and Lil

Hi Jessica, It's time to get creative! Your 9 month baby will be eager to try new foods now, and may even start to chew. There are no hard and fast rules here. All babies are different, with their own unique likes and dislikes. Just like you and me! When introducing any new foods to your 6 to 9 month baby, remember to apply the four day rule. And ALWAYS check with your doctor before giving any new foods to your baby.

You can purchase baby foods that offer your infant new tastes and textures, or you can fork-mash, cut up, or grind whatever foods you may be serving the rest of the family. You should cook it a little longer, until it's very soft, and cut it into small pieces that your baby can handle to decrease the risk of choking.

ideas :
mashed potatoes
vienna sausages
cooked soft carrots
creamed corn
apple sauce

I used a thunder stick http://store.yahoo.com/wonderfulbuysca/t... to make my own food for my son and fed him what I ate and now he loves all different kinds of food because I didn't limit him to the same old things. Just make sure you make the food soft and if he doesn't like what you give him let him make up his own mind whether or not HE likes it....then try the same meal in a month or so as his tastes will change.

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

Avacado, bananna, apple sauce, bagels, cream cheese, cooked carrots, cooked beets, cooked pasta that he can pick up, yogurt - you're going to do fine & so will he!
