Shopping is an activity we perform regularly. It could be shopping for
groceries, clothes, shoes or miscellaneous things. We may not have the
luxury of shopping alone always. We may have to take our children with
us. It might be inconvenient at times, as the child may be young or we
may have to deal with more than one child at a time. Whatever said
done, we need to take extra precautions to
ensure their well-being and safety while on a shopping spree.
How to Take Care of Your Child While Shopping?
- First of all make sure that they are not hungry or thirsty. Carry some extra snacks and a water bottle.
- Avoid the crowds. Shop when there are less people around.
- In case they touch any items, do not scold them. Allow them to hold and
admire it. In case you cannot purchase the item, take part in their
enthusiasm.
- Take frequent breaks to nurse or feed the child if he or she is an infant.
- Wear a sling or carrier to carry the child. You can also keep him or her in the shopping cart.
- Do not allow the child to play with items, which are not safe to handle. Keep an eye on the child.
- You can involve the child in the shopping. Seek his or her opinion.
- Do not indulge the child while shopping. Do not buy everything he or she wants.
- Be careful of losing the child in the crowds. A constant vigil should be maintained on his or her activities.
- Do not lose your temper and take out your anger on the child. Go out and have some fresh air if you are tired.
- Children can be a great help while shopping. They can bring the cart
for you or notice which item is located where or read the newspaper for
food advertisements.
- Do not feel that the children are a burden to you. Take a positive approach towards them.
Shopping can be fun with children. You just
have to take care of their safety. You can be more relaxed if the baby
is with you as you can give personal attention. These are the rough
guidelines I follow to make my shopping spree less tiring. What else
could we do, any suggestions?
