Well, I have decided that this week we are going to give my DD wheat. She is going to be 1 this weekend and her party is in two weeks. I decided it will be easier to give her a cake made with wheat so we are going to test her before her party. I would hate for her to have a reaction at her party. I have been slow to introduce the allergens because I am allergic to strawberries and my father is allergic to nuts and fish. Obviously I am not introducing those foods for a while yet. I don't even eat nuts since I am BFing. I miss nuts and plan to BF until DD is two at least. Well my Pediatrician said to give DD soy and wheat at 9 months because it would be fine, but I just couldn't. I was going to by her corrected age for her prematurity, but that was too soon for me. Then about two weeks ago I decided to bite the bullet and give her soy. Since we are vegan I was terrified that she would be allergic to it, if she were what would I feed her? I have the same fear about wheat. We love seitan at our house and eat it a couple of times a week. So I guess if everything goes well with wheat we will do citrus soon, berries at 18 - 24 mos, but no nuts until 3 years. My mom never worried about nuts or allergies with me and it was my dad who was allergic to so many things. It is crazy.
