4 year old that always wants to be held.

My elder son is 4 years old, and has always been very clingy, and has a great need to be held. (doctors all say it's normal for kids that start out with a stay in the NICU)

My concern is that I'm having a hysterectomy soon, and will not be able to pick him up. I don't want to listen to crying, whining and screaming for 6 weeks because of that!

Any advice, ideas, words of wisdom??? I have no idea how to prepare him for this. (trust me, I've tried for a long time to make him comfortable with some separation...no luck)

Goofing around with my babies - Big and Lil

A friend of mine had a similar situation when she had a c-section birth and still needed to hold her two year old son while she recovered. she would snuggle on the couch with him or let him climb up on her lap. she did explain Mommy has a sore tummy so she can't pick you up or carry you, BUT we can sit on the couch/chair/bed together and I can hold you then. she would put her arms around him like she was carrying him and it worked for her. Good luck with your surgery next week : )
