coffee talk: are you happy? truly happy?

dishing the dirt, cleaning the chaos

It's a loaded question...but I'm asking it. I know everyone is supposed to be happy once they are married. I'm just thinking about Sx & the City here...Charlotte (in her sticky sweet life) said every waking minute of her life she's happy.

Well, to be honest, that's fiction now isn't it! There are ups and downs and people get pissed but I tell you it's sometimes hard to spot "happy" in the mirage of emotions that come with being married to another person (and on top of that, in charge of who knows how many others...little, tiny or full grown!).

So, am I happy? I'd say yes and no. Happy is contextual and I'm so ADD that I'm happy in one situation and 5 seconds later, miserable in the next. Oh well, that's the way of the beast. That's why we have a little thing called happy hour....

well, I would say life will get boring without the ups and downs. So, I'm happy the way it is.

Didn't Charlotte also say that she may not be happy hour to hour, but every day she felt happy? I must admit that was very sickly sweet, but it the hour to hour makes sense. I'd have to say that on a day-to-day basis I'm pretty darn happy, even when the moment-to-moment is not. For me it's the overall picture. Of course there's the bad stuff, the angry stuff, it just comes along with being married and having children. I have my ups and downs, but generally it's mostly up. And I kid you not...
