Life's a Beach

Diggin the motherhood gig

Ok folks, so I am headin down the shore this sat with 14 month old in tow....now if you have read any of my other posts, you would already know that my little goo is afraid of large bodies of water. She also loves to run off in any direction and keep going if we let her.

So how do I survive the beach? I have a bucket and shovel and a sand toy, and we will dig a little hole to put some splashing water in. I have read to bring a pack n play, but I know that will just be a disaster. She would probaby scream in it and will just be one more thing to carry. I have a little pop up sun tent I can lock her in, but its light and if she fought it enough, would probably flip over.

So I got the toys, the sunscreen and will have lots of juice and snacks. Any other suggestions so that I may also enjoy this day?

Sounds like you have it covered. Not much else to do on the beach except dig holes, build sand castles and run in and out of the water. Most young kids are a bit shy of the ocean and just enjoy running in and out getting their toes wet. Sounds like she will have a blast. We are heading to the ocean this weekend too. I can't wait. Have fun.

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

How fun! Throwing sand is also big fun for toddlers, just let her know it's ok to throw it in the water not on Mommy. Make sure you bring a hat! And one for yourself.

Kids love beach sand. But, I'm not too keen on kids playing in the sand.
