I am a breast feeding mom who returned to work in April. Since I returned to work I have found it difficult to find private places to pump. I had just settled in to using the onsite gym (during times when it wasn't in use) to pump when I received word that it was going to be converted into additional office space. Needless to say I was a little frustrated, I refuse to pump in the bathroom and the cafeteria isn't exactly ideal. I have a cube not an office so that wasn't an option either. One of my co-workers overheard a converstation I was having and sent me a link to an article that talked about how as of July of this year it will become state law (Vermont) for employers to provide a "private" place for breastfeeding Moms to pump. This place can not be the bathroom. Once I brought this to my supervisors attention they made arrangements for me to use another companies examining room when it is not in use. Please find a link to an article in a Vermont newspaper on the subject.

There is a tremendous amount of pressure on new Moms to breastfeed and it is really hard once you get back to work. It takes a lot of commitment and patience to keep production up, to transport the pump and then milk, keep yourself hydrated and eating right. We deserve a clean place to pump so we can provide milk/nutrition/antibodies for our babies. Don't settle for the completely unsanitary bathroom stall. Check your state laws and don't be afraid to bring them to your employers attention if necessary.
