I am not sure if i agree that pushing back the start date is the answer for all. I was only 4 years old when I entered school, due to a late cut off. My mom took me to screening and I passed. I went on to be in the top of my class consistantly. I just graduated from college at only 21 and i am fine. I think if the kid is mature enough it isn't fair to hold them back...lets face it kids mature at so many different levels.

great article. thanks for sharing. Of course it is not the answer for all but I think it is extremely important for parents to know they do have an option. If your gut says your child is ready based on their personality fine - send them. But at least parents should know they have an option to hold them back if perhaps they feel their child is not ready. We push education so so early now. Now there is pre-pre K. Goodness just call it what it is - daycare. I wish they would stop telling us it is school. Ok sorry - done venting now.
