HELP! my kids act like BRATS at grandmas!

Posted July 18, 2008 at 1:35PM in Discipline - Suggestions and Tips by dustbunny | Back

dishing the dirt, cleaning the chaos

OMG, the fighting won't stop!
My oldest is a bratty diva, the middle won't speak a single word without whining and the baby- well, he just looks at me and runs away.

Oh boy! DO you have any suggestions for keeping behavior in check while traveling?
We have 2 weeks left and it could be a total mess by the time we get home. We started out ok but it's slowly slipping away!

help!

  Life is crazy but wonderful.

down time. My kids get overwhelmed with visiting and I have found that some alone time has helped them recoup. My daughter gets a real attitude visiting my parents, she is there this week and got really mouthy with me over the phone. She thinks that since her grandmother lives 60 miles away that she can have an attitude and I can't do anything. I set her straight last night when I reminded her that her father worked right by grandma and would retrieve her and cut her vaca short if she continued to talk that way. She was much sweeter to me after that. But she needed some serious alone time when my in laws were up a few weeks ago. Good luck.

Just ignore small fights and interfere only if you need to. Ask them to sort it out amongst themselves if the trip has to continue.
