What did you do with your stimulus check?

Posted July 24, 2008 at 9:21AM in Family Living General by Sticky_Mommy | Back

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

We got ours a few weeks ago and it was great. Until I realized we can’t spend it. I had visions of a flat screen, face lift, and new wardrobes for everyone.  Then our saving account came into reality. So it was fun to dream, but the check was put into our savings (you know the one you’re suppose to have 3 months worth of living expense?). So there it sits.

Did anyone get to spend their check on fun stuff? Or did it go to boring stuff like gas, groceries and credit cards?

Unfortunately, the government kept ours for outstanding taxes. We never even saw it. Oh well, easy come, easy go!

Guppie - So not fair! But maybe it's better that you didn't get to see it. Like the chocolate my husband has hidden so I don't see and not tempted.

  Life is crazy but wonderful.

Guppie, you can look at this way, at least you don't owe the taxes any longer. We put ours in the bank, but we do have to use some of it. We are using a few hundred dollars to buy some wood to heat the house and another couple hundred dollars to put towards our woodstove and hearth. The rest we are leaving in the bank. We might do something a little fun by buying a loveseat to go in front of our woodstove, but that is a maybe. For now it is in our savings account.

paid bills - the cost of a lawyer to protect us and look out for us on the house we were trying to buy and in the end lost. sucks.
it did help and we were grateful.
