My Day Alone

Posted August 12, 2008 at 7:13PM in Talk Around The Playground General by vtmomof2 | Back

Life is crazy but wonderful.

Today I dropped my kids with my mom, she runs a day camp in Burlington, for a special event they were doing and I went shopping, alone.  First I went to JCPenneys and with a $10 coupon I had bought myself a pair of jeans.  I quietly walked through the store and tried on several pairs, and it was amazingly relaxing.  I then did something I haven't done in a long, long time, actually I don't think I have done it ever.  I went to my hubby's work and picked him up and we had a lunch date.  Just him and me.  We ate sushi and discussed the olympics and what to get our son for his birthday.  I then went to toys r us and bought my son's birthday presents.  I then went to pick up the kids from their adventurous day of pretending they were knights and queens with a medieval dress up party.  I haven't had a day like this in a long time.  It is always the kids and me.  I feel completely recharged, and I got my son's birthday shopping all done.

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

Bravo. Just reading your post made me fell more relaxed.

Kelcmom - I think shopping with kids should be an Olympic sport.

Awesome! I'm glad you had a memorable day! I'm eagerly waiting for my son to get to school to find some time for myself:)

Oh school is wonderful. I remember the first time I brought my son to preschool, my daughter was already in school full time, I wasn't sure I wanted him to go but after the first week, I realized I loved those few hours by myself. At first you just don't know what to do with yourself, but you quickly fill in the time. I think the down time makes me a better mom.
