4 simple kitchen remedies!

dishing the dirt, cleaning the chaos

I was reading Shopsmart Magazine and I came across a helpful article that discusses four homemade cures for common ailments. You probably already know these but it's been a while and summer colds are going around so here's the 411:

SALT WATER (instead of Dayquil™)
Good for: stuffy noses, throats, allergies, etc.

Used with neti pots or nasal irrigation systems...yuck...but it works!

GUM (instead of Tums™)
Good for: hearburn

Used to stumulate saliva and neutralizes acid in the asophogus.

YOGURT
Good for: stomach aches, diarrhea, digestive issues.

Used to prevent bad bugs from settling in the intestines.

HONEY
Good for: cough and sore throat

Used to calm the throat and coat irritated membranes. DO NOT give to kids under 2. DO give to kids instead of OTC cough syrups because of all the associated risks.

Awesome tips ! You could mix black pepper powder and honey for sore throat. It has a very good effect if you have lost your voice due to a cold.
