big bed? Double Stroller? Potty training?

Diggin the motherhood gig

Okay dokey Its me, Inquisitive Kel!

With #2 on the way (I have plenty of time....like 9 months...) Thoughts have been buzzin in my head.

When would be a good time to move my now 16 month old into a big girl bed? I was thinkin around 20-22 months. Enough time to adjust BEFORE her new sibling arrives.....thoughts?

Double stroller.....My firstborn will be 2 when the new family member makes their apperance. I have seen those cool strollers that are double, not too huge and can even have the infant seat attached to them. (The infant travel system is the best thing....ever!). Will it be worth it? 2 is still pretty young, and I can only imagine 2 year old legs get tired at the boardwalk and fairs etc....

Potty Training...Ok ok I think I know what to do with this topic....if I start at 20-24 months, and even if she masters it,  I figure that a. I will be too busy with a newborn to continue the training....or b. She will she the new baby wearing diapers and regress. SO I was thinkin starting at about 2 1/2.....the new baby will be 6 months old, and I would LIKE to think things would be more settled.

And on TOP of all this my hubby is lookin into a new job (money, honey!) that may move us to MD. Which is good, but thats alot of change!

Sooooooo....be honest......

My honest opinion is not to make any more changes and try to adjust to existing ones as it would be difficult for you to manage the kid with more changes and take care of yourself with baby #2

big girl bed - you could always change her to a toddler bed first as an easier transition. Some kids have no issues though.

Double stroller - I don't know on this one. My kid was 31/2 when the second kid came so I decided I didn't need one at that point.

Potty training - you all have heard me preach about this one enough I am sure but - you can plan this one as much as you would like around the events in your life but her body is the one to decide when she is ready to potty train. Sure you can start around the time you mentioned - just know it might not go as planned. It could take longer, shorter or reverse when the new baby comes. Just go with the flow (no pun intended).

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

1. big girl bed - my dd was 2.5 when the 2nd one came and we/she decided to move a month b4 the new baby came. No.2 slept with us in our bed for the first 3/4 months and we used the crib for naps. We did take the crib out of her room and put away until after the baby came so she didn't think we were taking her crib away and giving it the baby.

2. double stroller - heck yeah. You don't want to try and wrangle a 2 yr old and a newborn. Strollers are great for crowd control and strapping in runaway 2-4 year olds.

3. Potty training - Let her be the guide. Mine did it at 2.5 after her brother came. It was a pain in the a$$ to carry a diaper bag with 2 sets of diapers, but hey, you can't force the issue.

4. Moving. oh boy. You better get some movers to help and make yourself a mock-tail!
