Cereal solution

I need a cereal solution.    I am spending SO much money on cereal every week.  My kids alone go through two boxes a piece.  I refuse to buy crappy cereal so at $3.50-$4.00 a box it adds up quickly.  They won't eat oatmeal which drives me crazy.

  Life is crazy but wonderful.

store brands, they are just as good as the name brands, but cheaper. I only buy store brand cereals at hannafords and the kids love them. they are usually right next to the name brands on the shelf. My son went through a lucky charms phase recently and didn't know the difference between those lucky charms and the hannfords magic stars. I do like now that they use less sugar and more whole grains.

The problem I have with store brand cereals (especially Hannaford's) is they use the preservitive BHT which is highly controversial. All of the Hannaford branded cereal's have it where the name brand doesn't.

maybe malt o meal then. I don't know what they have because I never bought those. You could always buy a couple of brands and then mix them to make them last longer, or create something new. There are usually coupons for name brand cereals in the sunday paper also.

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

What about Irish oatmeal? It taste better to me and we add fruit & I add brown sugar or syrup to mine.

On the weekends I make a big batch of pancakes or waffles and freeze the left overs so we can just pop them in the toaster for an easy quick breakfast.

I've done the pancake thing also, and my hubby loves the irish oatmeal.

What about eggs? You can get a dozen for under $3, .25 per egg. Mix that with toast and an apple and they're good to go. I prep breakfest the night b4 because it's so hard to get everyone out the door!
