5 free/cheap ways to entertain & educate your kid

dishing the dirt, cleaning the chaos

I like free stuff. I've come across a few entertainment ideas that go beyond the free library card.

Here they are:

1. PODCASTS- download free sesame street (and super y etc.) and play them when you need a quick distraction!

2. You tube- When your kid asks you how to do something and you don't know...go to you tube because you can find demos on anything! For example, my son and I had to put together a water-works science kit with a vacuum pump. I was like, HUH? over the instructions. Instead, we went to youtube and saw what the heck the things was supposed to look like. That was cool.

3. Free / cheap downloads.  Save on gas and download  stories  from parenting.com's audible kids

4. If you have tivo (which I realize is not free), look for shows like "how it's made" "reading rainbow" and "the magic school bus." Then, you'll always have random shows to put on while making dinner!

5. FREEBIE websites like freestuff4kids.com for downloadable print outs, coloring pictures,  video demos of activities, etc.

Good luck!

I love my job, it gives me a break from my kids!

I like your playdough recipes - that's big fun. But have them do that work on an easy to clean up surface.

I have my kids make cards out of paper & then send them to family. Grandparents love this and it's handy for Thank Yous.
