Organizing a Shower

Does anyone have experience organizing a shower for someone that lives clear across the country?? I am unsure really how to go about doing this... Do you think an e-shower where everyone got together via webcams and things would work? I just do not see everyone being able to be together at the same place, at the same time since we all live so far apart.

Will the next one be ginger too??

Maybe it would be nice for everyone to video tape a message or send in photos and make a DVD for the mom to be? Then she could have a keepsake from the day as well since there won't be photos from the actual event.
